THE BREEDER

Brittany Stubbs

I am the breeder of Oro Valley Golden Retrievers. My top priority is to provide high quality puppies for therapy training, service work and family homes. Our puppies are loved and well cared for until they leave my home and join yours. I am so excited to get to know you and your family throughout this exciting journey. Please, feel free to reach out to me with any questions about my program.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

We want the best start in life for our puppies. We begin ENS, ESI, and desensitization stimulation training with our puppies starting at 3 days old. Beginning these techniques early with our puppies has shown to help with their development and future adaptability into their new homes and training programs.

WHY IS NEUROLOGICAL STIMULATION IMPORTANT?

Many of our puppies will work with trainers to prepare them for their life's purpose of being a service animal. We put each of our puppies through stimulation techniques to help equip them for the next stages of their lives.

Early Neurological Stimulation

ENS

A process that introduces a variety of mild stimulations to very young puppies in a controlled way. This helps to encourage the neurological system which improves the growth and development of the puppy's immune system, cardiovascular system, and stress tolerance.

Benefits can include:

  • Stronger adrenal glands

  • Higher stress tolerance

  • Greater resistance to disease

  • Stronger heart beats

  • Improved cardiovascular performance

Early Scent Introduction

ESI

A training program for puppies designed to enhance their ability to identify and react to specific scents. Each day, we introduce a strong scent to the puppy. This Introduction helps puppies with their nose awareness and confidence. The benefits of early scent introduction can help produce puppies with superior scent recognition, which is essential in companion therapy and service training dogs.

Desensitization

SENSORY TRAINING

Desensitization is a technique of exposing each puppy to a stimulus that would normally cause an undesirable reaction. We begin at an extremely low level so that there is no response. As the puppy becomes less reactive, they are desensitized through exposure to gradually more intense levels of the stimulus. The benefits of desensitization training for puppies can help lower the risk of your puppy experiencing a fearful situation later in life and reacting in a negative manner.

PUPPY BUYING EXPERIENCE

Subject 4.png

Parker's Family

To prospective puppy family,

I would like to take a moment to share with you the positive experience my family had with Brittany and Oro Valley Goldens (OVG) in Oro Valley, AZ. Earlier this year, in the spring of 2022, my family began communicating with Brittany and OVG regarding purchasing a golden retriever puppy. Right from the start, OVG was so responsive, communicative, and friendly and it really put me at ease. I wanted to make sure I was working with someone who cared about her dogs, the puppies, and seeing the puppies off to loving, responsible homes, and someone I could trust with such an important and high-dollar amount purchase. It didn’t take long for me to realize I had found all of these elements within OVG and Brittany made our puppy adoption experience extremely positive and took the stress out of it by being easy to reach, sharing photos and videos of the puppies, being up-front about timing, availability, cost, etc. After we had made our deposit to hold our place in line for reserving a puppy, we were pleased with receiving photos and videos of the pups, and we made arrangements to go visit the puppies in-person when they reached 5 weeks old at which time we indicated our top preferences for choosing a boy, based on our position in the line of families who had made deposits. We live about 90 minutes away from OVG but made the trip to Brittany’s home and she was very generous in allowing us private time to spend with the puppies, meet the parent dogs, etc. We got to talk with Brittany and ask questions and it was a fantastic day spent with the pups. I could tell OVG was focused on making sure the puppies were healthy and safe, receiving the proper veterinary care, being exposed to various stimuli to help them develop, eating well, having time with the parent dogs in those early weeks, etc. When all the families had made their selections known, we were promptly notified of which puppy we would be bringing home and we were overjoyed with the result. We learned that one of the boy pups we had fallen in love with was going to be ours in a few short weeks and then the count down in our home began! In those final few weeks, OVG continued to be communicative and shared photos and videos and offered kindly to start calling our puppy by the name we had chosen. We coordinated with her to pick a date to come pick him up at around 8 weeks old, and OVG was very accommodating to our schedule. When we arrived in late May to pick up our puppy, we were so impressed at how organized OVG was – having an entire 3-ring binder full of information for us ready to go, along with a sample of food for the puppy, a tote bag with a few toys and supplies, a blanket with his littermates’ scent on it, etc. Brittany was so organized, thoughtful, and thorough in her hand off of the puppy to us. We paid her the remaining funds we owed, we signed a couple of simple agreements, and looked over all the records together. She had supplied paperwork to encourage us to visit a vet soon for a checkup/vaccinations, register our pup with AKC, register his microchip properly, etc. We couldn’t have been more thrilled with how the day went. We brought our puppy home and so began this very happy chapter of our lives with our new family member, Parker.  Parker is an amazing dog—so loving, so sweet, and seriously the most beautiful golden retriever specimen! Everywhere we go, we are receiving comments about how handsome and beautiful our boy is, and we agree! I come from a family who has owned goldens on and off since 1978 and we’ve had many during those years. Parker already exhibits all those wonderful traits that one would come to expect from a golden retriever. He’s smart, he’s funny, he’s playful and shows personality, he’s gorgeous, he’s athletic, he aims to please, he is trainable, etc. We love him so much and we are grateful to OVG and Brittany for all they did to make this a reality for our family. Our experience was 100 percent positive and I would recommend OVG to any family who is serious about adding a golden pup as a treasured member of their family.
